Eleven-seat Electric Shuttle Powered by Solar, Wind and Ultracapacitor Technology-

Rising atmospheric carbon levels are a bigger concern now than ever, prompting an electric mass transit shuttle forging new ground entirely; utilizing ultracapacitor technology. In a collective effort brought forth by American University, Sinautec Automobile Technologies, The Stella Group and Shanghai Aowei Technologies Corp; the zero-carbon vehicle is the first of its kind, able to operate on ultracapacitors – electrochemical capacitors which contain an unusually high energy density – as well as wind energy generated by a vertical wind turbine, and a 5,000 watt mobile solar station. Wind and solar energy has proved to demonstrate exceedingly well when used in combination with ultracapacitors, holding the capability and viability to power future electric vehicles. The avant-garde 15 foot minibus is alleged to generate zero-carbon emissions and can be fully recharged in fifteen minutes, unlike other battery vehicles which usually take hours to reboot. In fact, two dozen full-size ultracapacitor buses have been employed for commercial operation in Shanghai, China since 2007 and has been a valuable form of transport for commuters. “With a combination of advanced solar and ultracapacitor technologies, Sinautec seeks to demonstrate the certainty of a zero-carbon future for the US public transportation sector,” states Dan Ye, CEO of Sinautec. He goes on to mention that, because of their rapid charge cycle, ultracapacitor vehicles have important applications in municipal and campus transport, as well as shuttle services, tourism and recreation. “It is our goal to contribute to the Obama Administration’s efforts to improve the environment and to reduce America’s reliance on foreign oil,” said Mr. Ye. The demonstration will take place at the American University, School of International Service campus in Washington D.C. on Wednesday, October 21st at 10 A.M, which will begin with ribbon cutting ceremony and press conference, and lead to panel discussion as well as vehicle performance demonstration. Sinautec is currently working alongside numerous influential research universities to develop next generation nano-scale ultracapacitors for use in the public sector.
