John Rego, Director of Environmental Sustainability at Sony Pictures Entertainment, recently joined Green Energy News to discuss the company’s involvement with renewable energy generation. During the meeting, he weighs the feasibility of solar energy production for long-term payback and discusses the company’s use of more practical renewable energy sources to ultimately lead the studio to its “zero-waste” goal. Rego also examines the utilization of diesel electric generators vs. portable solar generators on movie sets and delves into the studio’s implementation of green production guidelines, such as electing to utilize green hotels and other eco-solutions whenever possible throughout film production.
