EPA Awards Clean Water Act Funding toward New Mexico’s Water Fortification-

Under the Clean Water Act, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has granted the New Mexico Environment Department $370,950 in energy funds to be applied toward the State’s base water quality and ground water programs. Both programs will act to avert, moderate, and ultimately stamp out water contamination by improving and advancing water quality standards, sustaining ample water quality monitoring procedures, developing Total Maximum Daily Loads, as well as satisfying surface and ground water program compliance obligations. The EPA’s Water Quality Protection Division, or Region 6, is involved in protecting and preserving our natural aquatic ecosystems and water resources in Arkansas, Louisiana, New Mexico, Oklahoma, and Texas, as well as the Tribal lands located within their region.
