BP Purchases “Oil Spill” Ad Words
Big Time Oil Polluter, BP, Buys Advertising Words in Cover Up Attempt-
For BP, the fight is on to hold down the truth about the gulf oil spill by any means possible. The large-scale oil polluter is now purchasing ad words – paid descriptive keywords designed to boost website traffic – through Google and Yahoo to cover up the mess continuing to brew in the Atlantic. BP has covered its bases by purchasing the term, “oil spill“, one of the top ranking keywords over the last several weeks. Search for news and information about the oil spill on the internet, and your first result will be a link to BP’s website with a tagline that reads “Info about the Gulf of Mexico spill – Learn More About How BP is Helping.” To top it off, the website’s information source is of the Unified Command, which includes BP and Transocean as well as the government agencies involved in the cleanup. President Obama openly criticized BP for buying $50 million in television advertising, while trying to push limits on the reparations it will owe fishermen and taxpayers for its pervasive catastrophe in the gulf. Yesterday, Mother Jones reported on mounting evidence that BP and Transocean ignored warnings of problems on the Deepwater Horizon rig.
