Biofuel to Replace Jet Fuels

Biofuels May be Redeemer in Reducing Global Warming-

Biofuel may be replacing standard jet fuels within the next few years, as many major airlines are now testing flights successfully with the renewable fuel. The airline industry projects that if 100 percent of all jet fuel was replaced with biofuels in flight, it would slash airline’s carbon emissions by 80 percent. “It works – no problem. We don’t have to make any changes to aeroplanes or engines,” said Billy Glover, Boeing’s director for environmental strategy. He went on to say that the recent testing on flights using biofuels such as jatropha and algae had been “better than expected” and a substitute for jet fuel could be an actuality in “three to five years”. Glover expressed that the next process after approval for biofuels would be arranging for industrial-scale mass producing biofuel plant facilities. “We expect to get approval for the fuel from the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) next year,” he affirmed. With more green energy prospects on the horizon, it is just a matter of time before America works its way to the top of the renewable energy revolution.
